Health and wellness isn't just a catchy phrase, it's a way of life. No longer do we consider health to simply be the absence of disease. Today we view health as a state of optimal physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, interpersonal, environmental, spiritual and social wellbeing. At all ages and levels of physical and mental ability, people can increase their health and wellness.
It is a well-known fact that the brain controls virtually every function of the body.
It is connected to every organ, tissue and cell in your entire body by a vast network of billions of nerves called the nervous system.
Every action you take and every sensation you feel is the result of electrical impulses transmitted through your nervous system. Problems will arise when there is interference to the transmission of these signals. One of the main areas of possible nerve interference is the spine. Here nerves travel through small holes situated between the vertebrae and in close proximity to vertebral discs.
When not properly aligned, the vertebrae and/or discs can cause pressure or irritation to the nerves. When nerve interference occurs it may cause the organ, tissue or cell supplied by that nerve to function at a diminished level, less than your maximum potential. This alteration to function may be imperceptible to the conscious mind. In more severe cases, you may experience a symptom such as numbness, tingling, or pain. When there is nervous system interference, it reduces the body's natural ability to heal.
